The Courthouse is one of Abu Dhabi's landmark public buildings, significant both architecturally and for its role in serving the justice system in the capital. The core requirement was a durable waterproofing solution that could be installed without removing the existing stone cladding, which ruled out any conventional approach and set the terms for the method PME developed.
Solution
Inclined façade — 13,500 m² of spray-applied polyurea with 12,000 lm of joint treatment
The façade is an inclined surface finished in heavy natural stone, requiring a waterproofing system that could be spray-applied directly to the substrate. A dedicated PME team engineered a method to apply a high-performance polyurea system to the surface, colour-matched to preserve the appearance of the finished façade.
