The project converted the terrace above the Apple Store at Dubai Mall into a restaurant, on a fast-track programme ahead of a fixed reopening date.

The scope covered strip-out to the mother concrete, removal and reinstatement of the glass handrails with structural modifications, GRC cladding restoration, and new tile finishes, over a waterproofing system specified for a complex steel and concrete substrate to resolve long-standing leaks.

PME delivered the overhaul around live mall operations and night-shift restrictions, adapting details on site as conditions demanded.

The existing floor was stripped to the mother concrete, then rebuilt with new screed and tiles, with expansion joints sized for UAE temperature extremes. The glass handrails were removed, their support assemblies modified and the handrails reinstated. Sealants closed gaps discovered within the steel structure to cut off leakage paths, and the GRC elevation cladding was restored. The Hydrotech system beneath provides long-lasting waterproofing across the steel and concrete interfaces.
